I went to church every Sunday. At age 12, I studied the bible two hours every Friday after school for a year.
I received two scholarships for UNSW and Leeds University. I was fast tracked to take a leadership position at The Smith Family organisation. Later, at NSW Film and TV Office (now Screen NSW) I was the youngest person in the NSW government in charge of digital media funding.
Some years later, I studied under two scholarships for film ~ Metro TV and UTS. I received a grant from Australian Film Commission, a youth leadership camp with Rotary. I was a judge with AFI Awards. I have 50,000 words published as a film journalist for various publications including specialist film journals, and educational film journals.
As a photographer I trained under Bill Green, who was Sony’s official photographer for 10 years, and Rachel Knepfer who was The Director of Photography of Rolling Stones Magazine for 20 years.
My first spiritual experience was with brain surgery as a young adult.
I studied Japanese Butoh (dark night of the soul) at Lismore Conservatorium for one year as an outside invited guest with second year dance students. I also studied Japanese Buddhism.

My personal belief
I’ve lived my life in very unusual ways due to ill health and many tragedies. I’ve seen the world from many different points of view. As a result, I have a unique perspective, and combine my knowledge and hard-won wisdom with Aussie farm girl background.
I know what works. I don’t prescribe to models that offer fairytale endings. I do believe in the wisdom that is offered in this world.
I have a little test. If something is seen as a universal truth, it has to work everywhere – in the poorest of Africa to a rich European country. If it doesn’t then it’s not for me. So, this is where I’m coming from.
